Bermuda is mild all year, but the weather still decides your day on the water. Summer brings a warm sea and thunder; winter brings a cool sea and short days. Match the month to the Bermuda guided tours you book, and keep one that refunds in storm season.
Wind and thunder matter more than rain. The Restless Native catamarans do not sail in heavy rain or thunder. In rough offshore seas the shipwreck snorkel moves to an inshore wreck and a shoreline reef. A drive or a cave day runs in almost any weather.
The sea sets your comfort in the water. It averages about 65°F in March and about 83°F in August. The helmet dive hands out wetsuits and hot chocolate whenever the water is below 80°F. The figures below are the Bermuda Weather Service's long-run normals for 1949 to 1999, not a forecast.

Summer, June to September, gives you the warmest sea: above 80°F from July. It is also the season of thunder and of the hurricane peak. For snorkeling it is the easy choice, as long as you book a tour that refunds you if the boat stays in.
Spring, April and May, is dry and mild, and May is the driest month of the year. The cool season, December to March, suits the drives, the caves and St. George's, not the reefs. For the full choice by goal, see the best time to visit Bermuda.
Book a morning boat if you can. If the weather turns, you still have the afternoon for a drive or a cave. On a ship day, an early start also leaves you time before all-aboard.
Sunset tours move with the season. The private sunset cruise lists an 8pm start, and the shared Restless Native sunset catamaran sails for an hour and a half. The midday sun is strong in summer, so bring a hat and a shirt for the boat.
