Check availabilityCrystal Caves lie in Hamilton Parish, towards the east end of the island and a long way from the cruise pier. Two boys found them in 1907 when a cricket ball fell into a hole. Inside is an underground lake 55 feet deep, under a roof of stalactites.
A cave tour collects you at the Dockyard, drives you there and back, and pays the Crystal Cave entrance fee inside the fare. Guides take groups into the cave every 15 minutes from April to September, every 30 from October to March. The shortest tour does the cave and little else; the full days add a beach and a town.
The site has a second cave, Fantasy Cave, sold on its own ticket. None of the tours includes it.
The adult ticket for one cave is US$24 at the gate. Every cave tour here puts it in the fare, and two make the cave reservation for the group.
From the Dockyard you would need a ferry and a bus or taxi each way. A tour drives you to the door.
One full day adds two hours at Horseshoe Bay and an hour on Front Street in Hamilton. The other adds an hour in St. George's and two hours at Tobacco Bay, a rocky cove at the east end.
The cave is the same in the rain. Kristin T.'s beach stop was rained off, and the guide swapped in more of the island instead.
